Evoke Solutions began working with Kobo when they were a start up with four people and built a brand to not only compete against Sony, Apple, Amazon and Google – but win. When they were acquired by Rakutan 30 months after inception they were the #2 global eBook company.

Global Vision, Global Success

Rather than trying to win in the US, the strategy was to be #1 in every other country. The name Kobo, while being an anagram of Book, also has no meaning in any language and has no need to be translated. All of the UX, video and marketing work was created with the understanding it would be localized – often in over a dozen languages.

Listening and Innovating

Once we laid the foundation for a world-class brand, our job was to fight for consistency while continually innovating and evolving the brand. We leveraged A/B testing across all platforms to continually improve conversions and engagement, while we drove innovations such as reading life and pulse to capture key market share.

Touch Interface

From the online experience, to working with 16 shades of grey with the touch-readers, our team created the UX and UI that helped define eReading.
